Historical Note: Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger opened their first office in Paris, France in 1920, and began conducting geophysical surveys in Romania, Serbia, Canada, South Africa, Belgian Congo, and the USA.  In 1926, the precursor to Schlumberger was the Societe de Prospection Electrique was formed, and in 1934  Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation (now known as Schlumberger Well Services) was founded.  Company headquarters were moved to Houston in 1940.  Since then, Schlumberger has become one of the world’s leading oilfield service companies supplying technology, providing information solutions, and integrated project management that optimize reservoir performance for customers working in the oil and gas industry.
