Name: Hood, Lucian T., 1916-2001

Historical Note: Lucian Hood (1916-2001) was one of Houston’s early modernist architects whose career spanned from the 1950s through the 1990s. Hood graduated from University of Houston in 1952 where he studied under Donald Barthelme. He went on to co-design notable structures such as The Century Building (Mid Town), The Times Building (Rice Village) and designed numerous residential projects that reflected a variety of architectural trends. Many of these designs were built in River Oaks, Tanglewood, and Memorial. His refined eye for detail and incredible graphic skills kept Hood in demand throughout his career.
