Scope and Contents: This collection contains materials documenting Self-Studies carried out by the University of Houston in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1990s. The University of Houston conducts a self-study in accordance with the requirements of the Commission on Colleges and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Traditionally they take place over a two year period and involve a broad cross-section of faculty, staff, and administration of the University. These studies are comprehensive and analytical in nature with the goal of identifying both the strengths and weaknesses of the university and to make recommendations to improve the performance of the institution. The materials in this collection are arranged chronologically by decade, and in many cases are further broken down as Subject Files arranged alphabetically.
