Historical Note: James A. Tinsley was a UH history professor specializing in Texas history for 42 years. In addition, Tinsley served as executive director of the Texas Gulf Coast Historical Association and in that capacity brought the Joseph S. Cullinan papers to UH Special Collections. Tinsley’s publications include The Progressive Movement in Texas and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants; a history.  He also edited Select Letters of Harris Kempner, 1837-1894 and Growth of the Business of Anderson, Clayton & Co. Tinsley died in 2007 at the age of 83.
